Hello, my name is John T. French. I am a millwork engineer and artist.
This is only a very small part of a career journey.
I hope you find this interesting
The drawings and engineering processes below are entirely my work.
The construction elements and installation method were drawn, engineered, and submitted for approval to the Architects by me.
These drawings were created in collaboration with Lead members and the millwork shop teams.

Millwork Construction and CAD Technical Engineering**
I collaborate closely with Project Managers, Owners, Field Personnel, and General Contractors to develop a unified and cost-effective approach while upholding high standards of quality in the millwork industry.
After the bidding process, my responsibilities include receiving the Architectural Drawings and coordinating all project specifications and details with the Project Manager and General Contractor. I then create and submit all CAD details. Often, it is necessary to redesign and re-engineer the Architects’ proposed construction methods to achieve the most cost-efficient product for the customer. Throughout this process, I maintain close communication with the Project Manager and General Contractor.
Additionally,
I research and requisition all materials, electronics, and hardware needed to execute our clients’ projects effectively.
The above drawings are entirely my work. The construction elements and installation method were drawn, engineered, and submitted for approval to the Architect by me, in collaboration with the cutbilling lead, the Shop Owner, and the General Contractor. I performed in the role of a Project manager on this project.
Cad Technical Engineer/ Project Manager
My Responsibilities on this project;
-
On this project, as with most, I work closely with the Shop Owner, conduct field surveys, and coordinate assigned projects with field personnel and the General Contractor.
-
Coordinate production schedules and install schedules.
-
It was also my responsibility (post bid) to receive the architectural drawings, coordinate project specifications and details with the Shop Owner and General Contractor.
-
I drew and submitted the assigned project CAD details.
Most of the time, it is necessary to redesign and re-engineer the Architects’ proposed construction methods to achieve the most cost-efficient product for the customer.
41210 - Dallas Arboretum Elevator Tower
I drafted and submitted this project on May 11, 2012, for Facility Construction Services. The Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden was designed to connect children with nature. Located in Dallas, TX, 8 acres of fun overlooking the beautiful White Rock Lake.
The Texas Skywalk, The Moody Oasis, and A Walk in the Clouds were all 2x6 Ipe wood decking.

Millwork Construction and CAD Technical Engineering**
I worked closely with Field Personnel and General Contractors on this project. It developed nicely, as there was little field work for me on this project; the drawings were straightforward, and I found few contradictions in the architectural sets.
